The Strawhat Pirates are named after their captains signature item, the Strawhat given to Luffy by his mentor Red Hair Shanks

Captain:

Monkey D. Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy also known as "Strawhat Luffy" is the captain of the Strawhat Pirates.

Founded:

East Blue

Luffy founded his pirate crew in East Blue. Known to be the weakest of the four blues. His first member was notorius pirate hunter Roronora Zoro. Luffy recruited his first four crew mates in East Blue before setting sail to the Grand Line.

The highest bounty of the crew is held by Captain Monkey D. Luffy. The crew currently has four memebers with a bounty over one billion.

Number of Members:

10 Members

From the get go Luffy declared that he wanted at least 10 crew members. With the addition of Jinbei after Wano Country the number of members sailing on the Thousand Sunny is now exactly 10. There are several honorary members such as Nefertari Vivi & Karoo, Zeus (in the form of Namis magic climate tact), Going Merry, Thousand Sunny, Bonclay, Yamato, etc.

Flagship:

The Thousand Sunny

The Thousand Sunny is one of the most unique ships in all of One Piece. It was built by shipwright and Strawhat member Franky. Just like the former Pirate kings flagship the "Oro Jackson", the Sunny is also made from the wood sourced from the Adam tree. Franky aquired the funds to buy the wood (100.000.000 Berries) during the Water 7 arc by robbing Usopp. After their victory in Enies Lobby, Franky built the ship and gifted it to the Strawhats aswell as join their crew.

Territory/Base:

Several Nations on the Grand Line and New World

Even though the Strawhat Pirates are now officially an Emperors crew, they do not hold Territory in the traditional way (like Kaido, Big Mom, Shanks and Whitebeard) Instead there are several islands and nations which unofficially assoziate with the Crew. A few honorable mentions would be: Alabasta, Fishman Island, Wano Country, etc.

Affiliation:

No direct affiliations

Officially the Strawhat pirates are not part of any alliances, since Luffy prefers his freedom and not having any responsibilities. However there are a few groups who associate themselves with the Strawhats by their own volition. A good example is the Strawhat Grand Fleet. The fleet formed after the Dress Rosa arc when the Strawhats freed the enslaved colosseum fighters, who then decided to follow Luffy as the "father" of their crews much to the dismay of Luffy who didn't want any part in this. Another group worth mentioning would be the Samurais from Wano Country or the Minks who live on the back of the giant elephant Zuneisha and many others.
