So this series is a bit different seeing how we are not dealing with demigods but rather a fusion of gods and humans. However, Sadie and Carter are not just regular humans they are also descendants of Pharaohs and magicians. During the travels the siblings have to learn how to host gods basically this version of demigods with Carter and Sadie hosting Horus and Isis, respectively. In the beginning of the book Sadie and Carter who have been living separately since the death of their mother are going on a trip to the London Museum with their dad. However, at Cleopatras Needle he accidentally sets the evil spirit Seth free who now roams around freely and is trying to wake chaos-serpent Apophis. Their dad’s spirit is taken, and they are thrown into the world of magic, gods and monsters. After meeting Zia a mage from Egypt and learning the basics of what it means to be a mage and how to channel the gods that they fused with they embark to try and safe their dad’s spirit they end up at the red pyramid where they manage to free their dad who is now also hosting Horus so that all together they manage to stop Seth but can not avoid that Seth begins to wake up Apophis. Which will from now on be a problem.
In between the first and second book House Brooklyn were Sadie and Carter are now living has become an outpost for young magicians who are working on channelling gods and mastering their other abilities. With this we are introduced to Jaz and Walt both apprentice mages under the guidance of the Kane Siblings. Now they have to try and find Ra who is the God of the Sun and the Godfather of ancient Egyptian mythology. To find him they have to make their way into the underworld. While travelling down the river they face many trials and eventually find where Ra is currently living which is nothing else than a home for the elder as we know it on earth except for ancient gods and monsters. Seeing how Ra was the first god and is many thousands of years old he has become senile. However, he regains some of his former glory after Jaz hosts him and basically offers up her body as a new vessel to him but retaining some levels of control. Now properly prepared to face Apophis they return to House Brooklyn to continue tending to teach new mages as well as training themselves.
In the final book there a lot of fights between not only the powers of Apophis and the other magicians but also between some rebels who have gone done the path of Seth the god of evil and have become evil. There are a lot of struggles of Power and trying to get an edge on Apophis without having to burn themselves out. Carter and Sadie have been building up their power and now have almost perfect control of their powers and how to combine them with their gods. At the final showdown once again humans and gods are fighting together side by side and are struggling to defeat the ancient chaos serpent who has split them up into different planes of the duath basically making it so that they each have to fight their very own version of the snake. However, after Ra is eaten by Apophis Carter and Sadie manage to banish the serpent from existence. Now however there are also no longer any Egyptian gods around as they were tied to chaos and relying on a balance that now without evil can no longer exist. The book ends with a bit of very deserved romance between Carter and Zia and Sadie and Walt who is also Anubis the god but now is only semi existent anymore.
